What Sizes Do Teacup Dogs Actually Need?
Here's a rough guide to the sizes needed for the UK's most popular teacup and micro breeds:
- Teacup Chihuahua (under 2kg) — typically needs a 6" or 8" back length (XXXS or XXS)
- Micro Pomeranian — usually fits an 8" back length (XXS)
- Teacup Yorkie — typically needs 6" to 10" back length depending on age
- Tiny Maltese — usually fits 8" to 10" back length
- Newborn or young puppies of small breeds — often need 6" or smaller

What to Look For When Buying Teacup Dog Clothes
When shopping for clothes for your tiny pup, here's what to check:
- Back length measurement — measure from the base of your dog's neck to the base of their tail. This is the most important measurement for dog clothing.
- Chest girth — measure around the widest part of your dog's chest, just behind the front legs.
- Neck girth — measure around the base of the neck where a collar would sit.
- Fabric — look for soft, breathable fabrics like cotton or lightweight knit. Tiny dogs have sensitive skin and can overheat easily.
- Easy to put on — look for styles with poppers, velcro or stretchy openings. Tiny dogs can be wriggly!
